Article of the Week: Lumilash for Eyelash Growth

As reported in the news and several financial analysts’ reports, hopefully sometime in 2009 Allergan will receive approval to market its eyelash enhancing product Lumilash (note, this is the proposed name and has not been finalized.) Lumilash contains the patented prescription medication Bimatoprost, currently approved as Lumigan, an ophthalmic eye drop for the treatment of glaucoma. Lumigan is currently being used off label by thousands of my patients to grow their eyelashes longer and thicker. It is applied to the base the eyelashes, on the eyelids, rather than in the eye, and has proven itself to be safe and 100% effective in all of my patients who have used it. As I have never seen any drug be 100% effective, in my 23 years experience in medicine, these results are extraordinary to me! I have even seen it grow lashes in patients who have lost them due to chemotherapy and alopecia areata (a disease that causes loss of scalp and sometimes facial and/or body hair.) Patients who have had sparse lashes their entire lives, as many of my patients of Asian descent have, are especially thrilled with their longer and thicker lashes.
Within weeks of daily use, lashes grow longer and thicker, and will continue to grow until use of this medication is reduced. In fact, many of my patients have to trim their eyelashes at this point. They sometimes grow so long they look like extensions. We recommend that daily use is reduced at this point to two to three times weekly for maintenance.
We have over 1000 patients on it now and they love it! I personally will continue to use it too!

Would love to use this product to grow my eyelashes. I used Revitalash for awhile before the main ingredient Bimatoprost was pulled. Can you help me? How can You become my M.D.? my skimpy eyelashes thank you. Susanne Furay

Lumigan would be perfect for you. It consists of pure Bimatoprost, in a much more concentrated form than the over the counter eyelash growth products available. In my experience we have had 100% success in approximately 1000 patients who have tried it.

I have been using the eyelash conditioner from Nordstrom/enormous lash by beauty society. The results are minimal. How can I get the product I thought I was getting? Please adviseif I should call your number.

Anything sold in a department store cannot (legally) contain the prescription chemical bimatoprost which is the active ingredient in Lumigan. Everyone, including Nordstroms, is trying to get on the eyelash bandwagon, but most of these products do little more than condition your lashes which may help make your lashes appear a bit longer or thicker.
If you call my office (949-363-1788) we can give you information on how you can obtain Lumigan, which will definitely help your eyelashes grow.

Hi,
I’d love to try this but am concerned about my eyes changing color. They are green and I’d like them to stay that way. Does this product, the Lumigan, with Bimatoprost still have this effect?

When used IN the eye daily as an eyedrop there is a small risk of changing light colored eyes to brown. When used to grow eyelashes it should be applied to the eyelid however, not in the eye. To date, I have put over 1000 patients on it, including myself (I have blue eyes) and most of my staff, and have not heard of anyone’s eyes turning brown. It is a risk however if you use it frequently IN the eyes.
